Nestbox Camera Equipment

Camera: The camera is a high-resolution (600 lines) videocamera, that is sensitive to .0003 lux. That's sensitive enough to see by moonlight, but inside the box, it's much darker, and you need infrared illumination.
Lens: The lens that came with the camera didn't have a wide enough field of view, so I ordered a wide lens, 2.5mm. With this lens, the camera can see the whole box. It has to be placed on its side to do that, because nest boxes are vertical things, while TVs (and hence ALL video cameras I've seen) are horizontal.
Infrared illuminator: This infrared illuminator (which we'll use next year) has 20 LEDs, and should be brighter than the 6 LEDs we're using in 2005.
Exterior Camera: This camera is pointed at the outside of the owl box, but we aren't broadcasting from it.
The Nest Box:This is the nestbox in the tree. It is held in place with ropes and a pulley, so it is possible to lower it if the unlikely need arises. We would only do this in case of medical treatment needed for the owlets, or some similar crisis.
